Pár hete interjún voltam a helyi lapnál, mint a város első Comenius asszisztense igazi kuriózumnak számítok :) Még arra is rávettek, hogy a fotók kedvéért sapka és kesztyű nélkül merészkedjek ki a hóesésbe, és még hógolyókat is gyártsak... Már akkor sejtettem, hogy nem átallanak majd olyasmiket írni, hogy élvezem a havat és a hideget, de hogy a hó újdonság számomra, ki gondolta volna? :)
Azóta sikerült egy példányt beszereznem az ominózus lapból, és egy ismerősöm le is fordította, íme:

A Hungarian guest teacher`s observations
A mathematics lesson at the 15th high school is taking place in
English. The teacher is Marta Krusper - a guest teacher from Hungary.
She has come to Latvia as part of an EU project “Comenius”, which gives
young teachers the opportunity to gain international experience.
Latvia is not the first country in which Marta Krusper has lived and
worked. She has also worked in Great Britain and she has also taught
children with special needs in the Czech Republic. After Latvia Marta
hopes to return to the Czech Republic and after that to go to Australia.
The young guest teacher willingly shared how she felt about her current
home and work place - Liepaja. In Liepaja Marta Krusper is teaching
high school students maths in the English language because her
qualification is mathematics teacher. But that is not all. Marta is
teaching elementary school children Hungarian dancing, she teaches
English to the teachers and the students` parents. People who are
interested can learn the fundamentals of Hungarian. The young teacher
herself is learning Latvian and, even though she has been living here
only since November, she already understands and can say quite a lot.
Marta told us, that before she came to Liepaja, she was trying to find
all available information about our country on the internet, and now she
can evaluate how much of that has really been useful. “My opinion is
that Latvia as a country is a lot more interesting than I have seen in
various clips on the internet.” She says that Latvia has beautiful
nature, that the capital city Riga offers a great diversity in its
cultural life. She likes that the old castles have been preserved and
are open for interested people.
In Liepaja the guest teacher
likes Karosta the best and the beach too. It is unfortunate that she is
in Liepaja now during winter, but even so the nearness of the beach
fascinates her. Snow is also a new and nice experience for her. Marta
would like a more active cultural life and she really regrets that the
1st rock cafe had to be shut down because young people don`t have many
opportunities to meet together. Marta likes the theatre and she often
goes to Riga where she meets with other guest teachers participating in
the “Comenius” project. “When in Riga I definitely go to the ballet
because I like it very much. I have also been to the circus and to the
festival “Zelta Kārlis”, because I really like the circus,” says the
young Hungarian girl.
Marta has her own point of view and evaluation
of our school children. Since Marta is teaching an exact subject –
mathematics, she has concluded that girls and boys have very good
academic knowledge. “Liepaja`s young people can surely compete with
their academic knowledge internationally”, says our guest teacher.
However, she confesses that our young people lack the skills to work in a
team. Individually they are knowledgeable, but when something has to be
done together, there is a lack of communication skills. This was
noticeable in a debating club competition where Marta was invited to be
one of the jury members. Marta Krusper thinks this could be a great
disadvantage in the job market because currently the skills of working
in a team are very highly valued in the world.
“I noticed that your
young people are reserved, they don`t often greet each other, they do
not respect teachers outside the classroom, the boys do not allow the
girls to go through the doorway first”, Marta expresses her
observations.
Marta really likes our groceries. She has never found
food products that are similar to those she can buy in Hungary anywhere
else. In Hungary people also like cottage cheese, sour cream, biezpiens
in chocolate icing. According to Marta, “Kārums” here in Latvia is just
as delicious as the same sweet in Hungary.
